Surfing with camels and water slides in 28 states of India

By Lacey Ackerman

The crew from Surfing 50 States is at it again...only this time, they'll be surfing about half the amount; the 28 states of India. Surfing 28 States is an HD documentary featuring the "color, craziness and characters" of India. Whilst traveling/backpacking, the team will connect with locals and explore culture, all while lending a hand to non-profits and other organizations. Oh - and they'll surf within all the states - water or not.

This film allows Jonno Durrant and Stefan Hunt (along with their production/camera team, Smriti Keshari and Campbell Brown), to grasp a cultivated perspective of new people and their values; the fun factor of surfing in every state is an added bonus. With sponsors such as Hurley, Brut, and GoPro, plus the generous amount of donations, this team has all the help they need.

Since October 1st, they have already faced both wild adventures and aggravating obstacles, and will continue to do so for the next two months. Within the first month, they've acquired a [hopefully reliable] vehicle in which the children of Asha Mission creatively painted, attended India's largest Hindu festival, surfed down water slides at Fun City amusement park, and became stranded in the cold, Himalayan town, Keylong, with no electricity, water or internet.

With roughly eight weeks and about 20 states to go, the team has a lot to overcome, and soon enough we'll be able to live vicariously through them with the finalized documentary. As for now, to keep up-to-date visit surfing28states.com.
