New York CIty Captured Through Stop Motion Photography

By Lacey Ackerman
There are countless photographers who have captured the essence of New York City through still photographs. However, Josh Owens, a photographer based out of Rochester NY, captured the "city that never sleeps" using a stop motion approach. Owens spent about a month hopping around to about twelve different hotels, hoping to capture a the best views of the city.

Owens took the time to stitch together thousands of images, shown at 24 frames per second. Although it took a whole month to shoot the perfect NY settings, it only took Owens about 3 or 4 days to compile the shots into a beautiful 4 minute stop motion masterpiece.

Growing up close to NYC and visiting frequently, I guess I can say that "I Love NY". I love everything from the vibe and culture to the parks, museums, and the food. Watching Josh Owen's photographic piece gives me a sense of the city life, making me feel as if I'm there. It's a perfect rendition of what the city is all about. See for yourself:
