Do you call it Soda or Pop or Coke?
By: Elaine Levins
I grew up in Central Pennsylvania, and all my life, I called Pepsi and other similar carbonated drinks "pop."
But then I went away to college in Eastern Pennsylvania. I went grocery shopping one day with my roommate, who was from North Jersey, and suggested we get some "pop." She proceeded to look at me like I had three heads. Not wanting to be thought of as a mutant by all of my other college friends (most of whom were from Eastern PA or somewhere in NJ, I just started calling it "soda." I've now been a "soda" girl for about 20 years.
All this brings me to my point. I found a cool info-graphic showing how populations across the US refer to soft drinks. Check it out!
