WordPress is an excellent blogging tool

Granted, I'm a little late to the party, WordPress is highly regarded by most of the internet. But I recently tried it out firsthand and I'm impressed.

I'm proud to say, I recently became a father. My wife gave birth to our darling baby girl Madeline Elizabeth Levins. To commemorate this blessed event and because I'm slightly geeky, within 24 hours, I purchased her a domain and set up a blog for Maddy.

WordPress installs quickly and it's a breeze to customize

Originally, I used Apple's iWeb application. But in a few days, I decided I wanted something more mobile - so I turned to WordPress. I'd always read good things, and then I saw WordPress has a mobile app for the iPhone and I was sold. So I downloaded the installer....and their instructions are correct - I was up and running in about 5 minutes.

So far customization has been a breeze. I spent some time looking for a free template and then personalized its look. Then I started to search for some plugins to augment the default capabilities of WordPress. There's a plethora to choose from - tens of thousands I'm sure.

And I haven't even scratched the surface on the customization options. Once I have time to delve into the code, I'll be able to create my own customize template, write plugins, and expand WordPress infinitely. But that's not necessary for most folks - so it's nice to know, right from the download, WordPress offers tremendous flexibility and gets you up and blogging in minutes.
