Staying on Top of Color Trends
By: Casey Knox
After you've sketched layout ideas and are ready to start creating a design, the next important step is choosing color. The layout sets a framework for your design to be built upon, but the color really sets the mood. One of my favorite ways top keep my designs fresh and cutting edge is to keep my finger on the pulse of color trends. And one way I do that is to check out the latest fashion trends for the upcoming season.
I know, I know... fashion is not graphic design, however these are the colors that we'll be seeing on an everyday basis in the clothes people are wearing. Using them in a design will resonate with the subconscious that has already been placed there by the fashion industry. I'm not saying that these colors should be treated as gospel, but its definitely worth the inspirational look every 6 months to see what's gonna be out there.
