A consulting firm that specializes in helping creative companies do things better, Recourses, Inc., led by David C. Baker, offers valuable advice for "free" on their site and through their e-newsletter.

I first became aware of Recourses, Inc. a few years back when they participated in the HOW Conference. While I didn't attend the conference, nor have I ever dealt with Recourses, I have subscribed to Recourses e-newsletter since first discovering them – and I have downloaded all their free position papers. These papers and the topics discussed in their newsletters are wonderfully helpful to business owners of creative shops. I've found they're topical, insightful, and poignant. In fact, they've often helped me to make difficult decisions.

A Tremendous Resource For Young Designers, Creative Entrepreneurs, Or Established Design Professionals.

I'm a strong believer in continuing my education; in business and in design. You can never stop reading, learning and adapting; otherwise you'll stagnate. I consider Recourses site, papers, and newsletters to be one of these educational resources that has helped me evolve as a business owner. And over time, I've appreciated that Recourses has given back to the community it consults with by providing the type of quality, helpful content they do on their site. It's a tremendous service to new and established design professionals. In fact, I'll admit I'm a bit embarrassed that I haven't written about Recourses in an earlier blog post.

 

Some day, I hope to attend one of David's seminars or to retain Recourses for my business - but until that's possible, I'll continue to eagerly await Recourses email newsletters and happily download their latest position papers.
