25 Years of Goonies

By: Casey Knox

On June 7, 1985 The Goonies was released in theaters. Warner Home Video celebrates the movie's birthday with The Goonies 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition This edition will include a new board game, collectible storyboard prints, a 1985 souvenir magazine with behind-the-scenes stories about the actual filming in Astoria, Oregon, including the production design that transformed Astoria into the “Goon Docks,” and a reprint of a 2009 article with updates of the entire cast, as well as producer Steven Spielberg and director Richard Donner. The Goonies 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition will debut on Blu-ray for $49.99 SRP and DVD for $39.92 SRP.

I was 11 years old in 1985 I couldn't wait to see it and I remember coming out of the theater with my very first on screen crush. I can't think of any movie from my childhood that I look on more fondly. Yea...it was a kids movie, but I bet I'd still get a laugh out of seeing Chunk do the Truffle Shuffle or Data's Pinchers of Peril and I'd be willing to bet there's a generation of 30 somethings who feel the same.  I'm not surprised thier putting out an anniversary edition of this classic kids movie, after all...

Goonies never say die

I loved Goonies too. Perhaps not as much as you....but still find myself watching it when ever it's on. And the anniversary explains why they kept playing it this weekend.
