Decorating? Painting? Check out Color Psychology before making any rash decisions!
By: Lacey Ackerman
So I'm moving this weekend. And I can decorate my new place any way I want. Graphic design is my number one choice as a career, however, the runner up is Interior Design. And yes, I am hooked on HGTV. However, last weekend while shopping for fun and new decor, I found myself running into a major problem. Green. I could not get away from picking out green towels, green carpet, green comforter. I tried so hard to stay away but instead I just found my hand moving towards the shelf to pick up the green toothbrush holder. It was like some kind of magnetic force I couldn't control. I thought about it...and it turns out I've always had this problem.
SO...
I decided to research some decor and consider other color options. I came upon this website about Color Psychology and thought it was pretty interesting. I like brightness, I like nature and I like a positive vibe in my living space.
Black is the color of authority and power, but I'm no king.
White symbolizes purity but gets too dirty.
Red stimulates a faster heartbeat, but I'd like to avoid anxiety.
Green? Let's skip green.
People lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, so I guess I won't choose this for obvious reasons.
Brown is the color of earth and is abundant in nature (ok - I like this).
And peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals.
The winners: Blue and Brown! (it'll look great with green)
