So... I recently saw a news report on the importance of having your business card designed.  Only after seeing the report, I couldn't tell if Russ Mitchell wasn't trying to be a little sarcastic in his report. Watch the report here and I'll meet you on the other side.

 

 

Did he not find the biggest tools in the industry to try and represent why you need and how to get a good business card? My goodness if you are running out to find an agency who are gonna paste words used for EVERY company on a wall and then pay this company to stare at it for weeks and to come up with an overly cooked and unecessarily gimmicky card  or if you are gonna listen to a guy who used every trick in the book on one card, I would like to give you the number of my psycologist.

 

While I agree with the sentiment that business cards are a very important part of your business tools, going overboard can hurt just as much as being underwhelming.  It does need to stand out... just not like a sore thumb.
