Take Advantage of Local Parks and Attractions

Over Memorial Day Weekend, my husband and I decided to visit some of our local parks. We've walked around some of the parks before, but this weekend made me realize that we have a lot of "hidden treasures" in our area.

With people becoming more concerned about how they are spending their money during the current financial downturn, it really is a great time to take advantage of our local parks and attractions. We visited three or four parks this past weekend, and had a great time at each one. Some had playgrounds and picnic areas, and all were just really great spots to walk around and explore. We saw geese and ducks (and their babies!), squirrels and chipmunks, and even a vulture. Granted, this all may seem pretty dull to some people, but fortunately, I am easily entertained.

ducksNow is the time to go out and discover what your local park system has to offer. You can hike, bike, walk your dog, play frisbee, or have a family picnic - all without having to go far from home. Plus, a lot of counties sponsor free events over the summer. Here in Camden County, there are free concerts, events for the kids, and walks/races to benefit some great charities. So, do a little research to find out what your county has to offer, and take advantage of local events this summer.

To get you started, here's a link to the Camden County Park Events Website so you can check out all the great Summer events, and a link to the Camden County website, where you can find a list and directions for all the local parks in Camden County. Enjoy!
