Redesigning The Nutrition Label
By Casey Knox
Earlier this year Rethink the Food Label was a project by the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism's News21 program and Good Magazine. They asked the public, food thinkers, nutritionists, and designers to redesign and rethink the Nutrition Facts Label to make it easier to read and more useful to people who want to consume healthier food. The whole point being to help the consumer understand the nutrition within the food through easy-to-understand labels. They had a contest and the results are in.
The winning labels were submitted by Renee Walker are beautiful and informative. The use of color however may cause production issues, but nothing that couldn't be worked around. To find out more about why they decided to do this project and to see the other winners go to the Rethink The Food Label website.
