Microsoft invests a lot in research; perhaps with this one they'll actually one-up Google Maps. I'll admit, it looks cool and I'll certainly use it over Street View on my iPhone - I think.

 

It addresses one of the fundamental problems with Google's Street View - easily navigating around Street View is tough. And scanning down a street quickly is nearly impossible. Microsoft's Street Slide seems to solve this problem and it does so with built-in advertising potential (notice the business names & logos being show during the slide in the demo). It's definitely something I'll check out once it officially launches.
