Listening to music can inspire - but sometimes it's just for fun.

By William Levins
I'm sure if I searched the internet, I could find scientific evidence to support that listening to music can affect mood and help creativity. But I'm fine relying on my own empirical observations.

I wrote in an earlier post (Creativity On Demand, Not Always) that I often aid my creativity by selecting the appropriate music. Rock, Alternative, Rap, New Age or Classical can all adjust my mental state and help me to design better. Well today....I was beginning my day, as I do every morning, by trolling the internet and imbibing copious amounts of coffee. I was listening to my Quintessential '80s collection...and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" came on....and while it's in my list, it's never been a favorite. Until...one day...I stumbled upon the most beautiful, most sensational cover of the song....ever....

Which brings me to the real reason for my post....so I can share with you Hurra Torpedo's cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart. This is an older internet classic....when I first saw it years back...I was hysterical....the guy is playing a friggin' freezer...and a stove. And the fella with the pants....well...just watch and enjoy. And when you watch it again....as you wipe the laughter tears from you eyes....you'll also find they're a talented bunch and do a decent cover...even if they're using kitchen appliances.

Ladies & Gentlemen....Hurra Torpedo's "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
