TerraCycle Outsmart Waste

Located in Trenton, New Jersey, the innovative, environment-friendly entrepreneurs at TerraCycle are helping the planet and making money. It's a story of living your conscience and developing smart solutions to modern problems.

Founded by 19 year old Princeton freshman Tom Szaky in 2001, TerraCycle began life as an organic fertilizer company. It's since transformed into recycling all types of waste materials into eco-friendly products. It's created partnerships with companies such as Kraft Foods, Frito Lay (Pepsi), Stonyfield Farm, Mars Wrigley and others, creating free recycling collection programs that benefit schools and non-profits, while simultaneously helping the planet.

TerraCycle provides a method for everyone to get involved. You can sign-up on their website and start collecting recycling, then donate to the charity of your choice from their list of partners. Or you can simply purchase some of the products they've made from recycled items. It's a wide variety - some direct, some indirect. You can buy fencing, or bags, or simply purchase products that use TerraCycle's recycled materials. It's certainly an easy way to help the planet and as TerraCycle says, "outsmart waste."
