You Can't Design in a Vacuum

By Casey Knox

I don't know where I heard it, but its true. Not all of us get to design along with a great team of creatives. Getting feedback and exploring ideas with others helps develop ideas.

There is a new social networking site available for creatives called conceptfeedback.com. It allows you to place your work up for other creatives to critique and give their opinions on. This site could prove invaluable for the freelancers in our field, who don't benefit by working alongside others but could also be helpful to any creative.

Just be careful, you wouldn't be doing this if you didn't know something yourself. Getting critiscism and ideas is not a bad thing, just remember that everyone has an opinion, keep the design true to yourself and don't read to deep into what everyone says. You may find some extremely valuable insight, but you may also find nitpicky nonessential comments. You know–like the ones you get from clients. Luckily these people are not your clients and you don't have to please them.

Overall, I think the concept is a great one and plan on visiting it and maybe utilizing it should I ever feel the need.
