Color Me Right

By Christina Smith
Who doesn't love color? Color brings life into the world. Subconsciously, people react differently to color.  For instance, studies have show that a student's performance on a test is lower when that student sees the color red before the test is taken. In contrast, sports teams actually perform better on the playing field if they are wearing the color red.

One of my favorite color websites is COLOURlovers.com, an in-depth color site geared not only to professional designers but also to anyone who is generally interested in color patterns and trends. It has everything from articles about the psychology of color and its various effects on productivity to blog posts about the healing power of Chromotherapy. Designers can browse the site to research the latest color trends, comment on color palettes or catch up on color related news articles. Professionals can also draw inspiration from the thousands of color palettes users have submitted. Check out the site, create a new palette, play with different filters, or read any of the interesting articles on the psychology of color!
