A glance at the new features of Adobe Creative Suite 5
By Lacey Ackerman
With the arrival of my CS5 upgrade came endless research on the
program's new features. Each program within CS5 has it's own unique
enhancements. Here's just a few added features to Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign:
Photoshop
- Content-Aware Fill: an automatic tool that will fill in any empty space with the surrounding scenery
- Selections: the selection tool is much faster and refined than the previous CS versions
- Puppet Warp: this allows elements to be repositioned easily
Illustrator
- Variable-width strokes: you are able to vary the width so that one stroke is not a uniform width
- Dashes & Arrows: Illustrator simplified the task of aligning arrowheads and dashesDrawing in perspective: a new tool allows you to illustrate with 1, 2, or 3 point perspective
- Artboards funtion: a new function that enables multiple artboards
InDesign
- Layers panels: Allows you to set sublevels to objects in your layers. You can ock, reorder or hide text frames, images or shapes on your pages.
- Multiple page sizes: a built-in feature that add gatefolds, inserts, etc.
