War of the big ''A's''
By Casey Knox
It's long been a battle between Adobe and Apple to get a working version of Flash on Apple's products (ie. iPhone, iPod), but with the recent release of the Apple iPad still without Flash compatibility it has consumers left wondering when if ever we will see it. In a blog written by Mike Chambers of Adobe, he points the finger at Apple saying that Apple's "wants tie developers down to their platform, and restrict their options to make it difficult for developers to target other platforms." Apple's response to this was answered in a blog written by Steve Jobs. In it he basically says Adobe Flash's system is old and not good enough for Apple products who are looking to the future in technology. How did Adobe respond?
Kevin Lynch CTO of Adobe posted on their blog on the 29th of April stating "we have already decided to shift our focus away from Apple's iPhone and
iPad devices for both Flash Player and AIR. We are working to bring
Flash Player and AIR to all the other major participants in the mobile
ecosystem, including Google, RIM, Palm (soon to be HP), Microsoft,
Nokia and others."
So there it is folks....The players are set. Now we will sit back and see who will win the popularity contest. Who will come out on top?
I am personally pulling for Steve Jobs and Apple. Why? Well because in my opinion Apple is just a better product. It always has been. Steve Jobs has always stuck to his guns and pushed Apple from its inception to be uncompromising in quality. Its sad though because I am a graphics designer who has worked on Apple computers for her whole career, but i've also been a PC gamer and have had to put up with owning a PC in order to enjoy that experience. All I can think right now is uh-oh here we go again.
